POEM ABOUT: The antics of my wild child
(Day 5 of 365 day challenge)
Be a wild child
Without a care in the world
Unkept hair and an impish smile
- mischievous eyes in an angelic face.
A baby faced assassin destroying all that’s there.
Shirking normality and the norm.
Pushing boundaries, pressing buttons -
Painting walls, and that’s not all.
Opening cupboards, eating sweets-
leaving wrappers on bedroom floors.
Under unkempt beds lies treasure troves -
of items unloved or wanted no more.
Undressing dolls and leaving them bare -
for me to find and make them a home.
Wardrobes full of messed up clothes
perfect for a jumble sale or two.
Nothing stopping as you escape from hands
to hold you back.
Be free, my child.
Be you because one day
you’ll fit right into this world of ours.
